Diabetic Burger Recipes

This diabetic burger recipes is not a quick fix. I love that you can pick your stuffing. Everyone can choose a different hamburger stuffing for their patty. With stuff blue cheese, and minced jalapeno peppers, it is worth fixing.

Stuff-A-Burger Recipe

1 1/2 lb lean ground sirloin
2 tbsp ice water
Freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
Salt, to taste

Choose from the following stuffings= (use 1 tbspn or a combinationequal to 1 tbspn per burger)
Hot salsa
Parmesan cheese
Chili sauce
Minced jalapeño peppers
Bleu cheese
Teriyaki sauce
Marinara sauce
Minced sauteed mushrooms
Hoisin sauce
Minced smoked ham
Minced roasted red pepper
Feta cheese

Recipe Instructions:

1. Mix together the ground sirloin with the water, pepper, and salt. Form into 12 small patties. Place 1 tablespoon of desired filling in the center of each of 6 patties. Top each patty with one of the remaining patties. Seal edges to secure filling inside.

2. Prepare an outdoor grill with an oiled rack set 4 inches above the coals. On a gas grill, set heat to high. Grill the burgers on both sides according to the following guidelines: 5 to 6 minutes for rare, 7 to 9 minutes for medium, or 10 to 12 minutes for well done.

This recipe yields 6 servings. Serving size: 3 to 4 ounces.

Exchanges Per Serving: 4 Very Lean Meat, 1/2 Fat.
